Come and join us on a magical and technical night run over Bowfell and Esk Pike if conditions allow from Great Langdale. This is wonderful in the day, severe in the grips of winter, but combine winter and night and you get something really magical.... assuming the weather doesn't get in the way!
A professionally guided night run covering the route over Bowfell and Esk Pike from Great Langdale if conditions allow. This all depends on the weather and conditions and if we can't make the loop due to conditions then a back up plan will still excite!
Expect it to be dark, expect us to light up the mountains with Silva Trail Speed 3XT's, expect it to be epic, expect it to be exciting and expect it to be extreme and expect it to feel and be very wintery.
Winter mountaineering skills are helpful and not essential. Previous experience of winter mountain conditions is helpful but not required by all participants on this event.
We'll meet at The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel at 20:15 , where we'll have a quick chat, make sure everyone is geared up correctly and then we'll be heading off by 20:30. You will be guided expertly by our team at Mountain Run. We will be roughl 4 hours, could be less and be back in The Old Dungeon Ghyll by 00:30, just in-time for last orders!
Any runner who has dreamed of spicing their 'running life' up a little and heading out into the mountains to have some extreme fun (safely we hasten to add) around the Fairfield Horseshoe.
Trail runners, Ultra runners, Mountain/Fell runners and Sky runners are all welcome. Road runner? No worries, we'll look after you all the same. Don't forget, we're all in one happy family.
**You will need to have had experience of running at night, experience of running over technical terrain and experience of running in foul weather conditions and some experience of winter running.
[If you have any queries or questions... just give us a call before you book.]

In ancient times, it was common to track the seasons by the lunar calendar (as opposed to the solar calendar, which came later).
Native peoples once observed the seasons by giving distinctive names to each recurring full moon. Time was not recorded by using the months of the Julian or Gregorian calendar.
Northern Native Americans call April's full moon the pink moon after a species of early blooming wildflower. In other cultures, this moon is called the sprouting grass moon, the egg moon, and the fish moon.
